Services for Mr. Charles Raymond Varnado, age 84 of Winnsboro, LA will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro with Dr. Max Lee and Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Winnsboro Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
Mr. Varnado was born July 8, 1926 and passed away on September 28, 2010. He graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1943 and joined the U. S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific in World War II. After discharge he went to Louisiana Tech, and after graduating he went into the insurance business with his father. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, serving as deacon. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was most proud of his two sons and grandchildren. After retirement he enjoyed genealogy and gardening, especially riding his tractor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maurine Varnado.
Survivors include: wife of 61 years, Martha Varnado of Winnsboro, LA; sons, Larry Varnado and wife Patty of Alexandria, LA. and Billy Varnado and wife Dale of The Woodlands, TX.; grandchildren: Joshua Varnado and wife Ashley of Houston, TX., Matthew Varnado and wife Lauren of Houston, TX., Jennifer Boudreaux and husband Todd of Denham Springs, LA. and Brianna and Connor Boudreaux; great grandson, Jackson Charles Varnado; sisters, Pansy Ingram of Winnsboro, LA and June Southern of Monroe, LA.
Pallbearers are: Billy Boutwell, Vic Hodgkins, Jerry Thomas, Owen White, Joey Cordill, and George Boutwell.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Deacons of First Baptist Church of Winnsboro.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday, September 29th at Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
