Julia E. Crittendon Allgood, 81, widow of the late John D. Allgood, of Williamsburg, Va., died Monday, July 30, 2001. Born in Elbert County, Ga., on Oct. 5, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Rebecca and Lloyd Crittendon. Mrs. Allgood retired from Colonial Williamsburg as a milliner in the Margaret Hunter Milliner Shop in 1981.
She was the beloved mother of son, Larry, and daughter-in-law, Sylvia Baker Allgood; son, Patrick, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Gordon Allgood; daughter, Angela, and son-in-law, Robert Singley, all of Williamsburg; daughter, Sylvia, and son-in- law, Raymond Anderson, of West Chester, Pa.; daughter, Becky, and son-in-law, L.D. Metcalfe, of St. Joseph, Mich. Mrs. Allgood was blessed with 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She has two surviving brothers, Wendall and Kenneth Crittendon, and three sisters, JoAnn Morgan, Shirley Chapman and Rosalie Bailey. Other surviving family members in the area include Annette and Steve Specht and Audrey Crittendon, of Hampton, Va. She also has a surviving sister-in- law, Louise Berryman, of Carlton, Ga.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, in the Williamsburg Memorial Park with the Rev. Milt Hines officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the Bucktrout of Williamsburg Funeral Home.
In Mrs. Allgood's memory, donations may be made to the Hospice Support Care of Williamsburg, 312 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg, VA 23185.
