She was the daughter of Samuel Baxter McEwen and Orinda Sophia Boardman of Ohio and Wisconsin. She married Dr. John Bastian Edwards in Portage, WI on June 2, 1870. She had 3 children: William McEwen Edwards, Laura Orinda (Edwards) Clark, and John 'Jack' Edwards. They lived in the Mauston area most of their lives. They were married for over 50 years. She died at Madison, WI and was originally interred at Forest Hill Cemetery there.
