CHESTER J. ROOT Passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the age of 79. He is survived by his dearly beloved wife of 56 years, Helen Root. Dearly beloved father of 3 sons, Mike Root and his wife, Debbie, Dennis Root and David Root and his fiancee, Karen Metcalf. He has 6 grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Joanna, Kevin, Bryan and Stephanie. He is survived by one sister, Freda McClean; sister and brothers-in-law, Stan and Donna Paxiao, Gary and Bonnie Lueckel and 7 nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Douglas, West Virginia and has lived in Hayward since 1953. He proudly served our country in World War II as a Navy SeaBee. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling and gardening. He lived for spending quality time with his family, sharing laughter and teaching the valuable lessons of life. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation Thursday, September 9, 5 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral service, Friday, September 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2065 W. El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View, CA 94040.
