Mabel Cecelia Pierce, daughter of Dr. Dunklin W. Pierce, married at age 16 Rev. Claudius Lysias Chilton on 3 Dec 1878. She would bear him 10 children, of which 9 lived to maturity.
Of this union came a sad tragedy. Mabel unknowingly carried the genes for PKD, a renal disease, and passed them to 7 of her children. For example, see Arthur Bounds Chilton, died 1934, who was afflicted, and younger brother Thomas H. Chilton, died 1972, who was not.
E.M. Bounds, who performed the funeral service, can be found upon Wikipedia.
