Mary Lee Way Douglass, of Columbia, died September 29, 2010. She was 92.

Born in Orangeburg County, she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel and Mazie Mitchum Coates, as well as adoptive parents, Jacob and Olive Way.

A graduate of Columbia High School, she retired from the Department of Social Services as a Financial Division Supervisor.

As a dedicated member of Rose Hill Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Douglass was active in Sunday School, Women of the Church, and served as a Den Mother. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her life.

Surviving are her son, Johnny Douglass (Catherine) of Edisto Island; daughter, Mary Garland Douglass (Tom Jones) of Charleston; grandchildren, James Douglass of Lynn, MA, Anna Douglass Ojanen (Joonas) of Raleigh, NC; two great-grandchildren; sister, Geneva Mitchum Parler; many nieces and nephews who were dear to her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Garland B. Douglass; sisters, Cenetta Coates and Mae Barry Coates Chaney; brother, Ezekiel Coates.

Interment was in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
