TAKEN FROM: HISTORY OF McLEAN CO, ILLINOIS:

Illinois.

The Bloomington, Illinois Pantagraph Newspaper:
Article dated Saturday, July 28,1855:

We have heard of 5 deaths in the City and 2 in the country occurring suddenly, within the last 2 or 3 days, and said to have been from Cholera, Amongst these, Mr. Martin B. Rowan, residing on Center Street. He died yesterday and his wife Mary Ann (Baker) Rowan died early this morning. Prudence and temperance should be observed both in eating and drinking, particularly during the prevalence of symptoms indicating a predisposition to this illness.

McLean County Marriage Book Volume B-Pg.57 has Martin and Mary's marriage on February 12, 1843. They had a son, Albert Hiram, and daughter, Ella Rowan.

NOTE: Bloomington, Illinois historian, Milo Custer, says this photo of Mary Ann and the one of her husband, Martin, are the only 2 photos known to exist of victims of the 1855 Cholera Epidemic that swept Bloomington, Illinois.
