Funeral service was conducted for Mr. Joe Ross Chapman, 49, Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 3:00 p.m. in the Methodist church. Rev. Addison Cutter, pastor, and Rev. John Klappenbach of Faith Baptist church, officiated.
Burial was in Highland cemetery under direction of Tanner Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Taylor George. Herman Mahler. Jim Cunningham, Bert Van Horn, Jim Lee, Earl , Morris.
Mr. Chapman died in a Wichita Falls hospital early Monday after suffering a heart attack Saturday night. He was born Jan. 1, 1911 in Milam County, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Chapman.
Mr. and Mrs. Chapman moved to Iowa Park five years ago from Wichita Falls, where he was in the service station business. He came to Iowa Park with the Police Department and was soon made Chief of Police. At the time of his death Mr. and Mrs. Chapman owned and operated the City Cafe.
Ross was a World War II veteran. Surviving are the widow Chris; a daughter Mrs. Doris Jane Brown of Andrews; a step-daughter Mrs. Gus Moore of Austin; a sister Mrs. Golda Mae Allen of Austin; two brothers A. E of Iowa Park and Oscar of Midland; and one grandson Johnny Brown of Andrews.
