Lawrence (Larry) Stephens Decker was born to Thomas Alvin and Verena Stephens Decker. Raised in Parowan then Provo. He attended Farr Jr. High, Provo High and BYU.

He married Walene Liddiard on August 12, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they decided that "eight" really was enough.

He was an avid businessman—owning a cabinet store, typewriter store, and in later life a real estate man. He loved inventing, he invented a coin operated typewriter and adding machine, which he placed in libraries in Northern California.

He was a high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was in the Missionary Presidency in Murray, a position he loved. He was in the Stake Sunday School Presidency in California, Stake Mutual Presidency in Murray, and latest Ward's Sunday School Presidency.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, his son, Daniel; granddaughter, Marie Elizabeth Riley; and his son-in-law, John Overby.

He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Vicki Decker, Terri Gioffre, Debbie Perkins, Lori (Tom) Huhta, Tammie Decker, Heidi (Tony) Meireles and Sherri Overby; 27 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Pointe Meadows 1st Ward located at 2100 North Pointe Meadow Drive in Lehi, Utah, with a viewing from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. In addition, a viewing will be held at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. located at 4760 S. State Street in Murray. Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
