"Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal" Tupelo, Mississippi 18 May 1962 RITES SUNDAY FOR JOHN REED RETIRED FARMER OF AUBURN COMMUNITY John Reed, retired farmer and lifelong resident of Auburn, died at 10:50 a.m. Thursday at Community Hospital after suffering a stroke at his home at 6 a.m. He was 89. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Springhill Presbyterian Church, east of Saltillo. Burial will be in the church cemetery with W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge. The body will be at the funeral home until time for services. His grandsons will be pall bearers. Mr. Reed was a member of Crossroads Christian Church. His wife, the former Miss Daisy Suggs, died nine years ago. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Jodie Bryant of Warsaw, Va. and Mrs. Clara Dobbs of Carbon Hill, Ala; three sons, Cecil Reed of Auburn, Marvin Reed of Memphis and George Reed of Amory; a sister, Mrs. Lavelle Robbins of Auburn; 20 grandchildren and 27 great granchildren.
