Barbara Sue Jolley Gilbert passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Cly and Gertrude Jolley.
She was a lifelong and active member of New Pleasant Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC. A graduate of Chesnee High, she attended Winthrop College and Cecil's Business College. She was employed at Watson's Insurance during her early years and Gilbert Motor Company for over 40 years before her illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Curtis C. Gilbert. She is also survived by one daughter, Belinda G. Wade and husband Steve of Chesnee, SC and one son, Cly C. Gilbert and wife Frankie of Chesnee, SC; five grandchildren: Clint and Taylor Wade, Miranda and Erika Gilbert and Jared Lanford all of Chesnee, SC. She is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Jolley and wife Judy of Chesnee, SC, Gene Jolley and wife Joyce of Morristown, TN, and one sister, Emily Yelton and husband Kenneth of Chesnee, SC and one sister-in-law Vennie Lou Jolley of Chesnee, SC. She was preceded by one brother Billy Jolley.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, October 1, 2010 at New Pleasant Baptist Church of Gaffney, SC conducted by Rev. George Holland, Rev. Dewitt Clyde, and Rev. Bryan Yelton. Burial will be at Springhill Memorial Gardens in Chesnee, SC.
