Harrison Taylor Cowan of Camp Branch Road was native of Jackson County. He was a retired farmer and was a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church. He was a son of the late Duff and Amanda Bradley Cowan and was the husband of Eva G. Cowan who died in 1974.
Surviving at the time of death were six daughters, Mrs. Connie Muse, Mrs. Albert Muse, and Ruth Swanger of Waynesville, Mrs. Daniel Eckels of Venus, Fla., Lola Rickman of Clyde and Mrs. Charles Hartsell of Hampton, Va.; two sons, William Cowan of Asheville and Harrison T. Cowan, Jr., of Winston-Salem; a brother, Thad Cowan of Washington state; two sisters, Laura Sutton of Dillsboro and Mrs. Luna Buchanan of Sylvia; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Allen’s Creek Baptist Church. The Revs. Carl Presnell and Kenneth Fugate officiated. Burial was in East Fork Cemetery in Jackson County.
