By extrapolation George must be a son of William Farnum & Julia A (Chapman) Farnum since he is included as the first name on this gravestone which carries the names of two other Farnum children who died before George. It is logical to conclude that this stone must have been carved following George's death in the Civil War as a memorial to all three children.

The 3 individuals on this gravestone are listed on page 456 (George) and 457 (Wm Z and Julia) of History of Buckland by Kendrick w/genealogies by Kellogg - but no add'l details as to parents or family group. Kendrick suggests that Wm Z and Julia may be children of William Farnum and Julia A Chapman who m. in Deerfield June 22, 1837. [Buckland Mass. Vital death records confirm this assumption]

Civil War Veteran
Enlisted in Company E, Massachusetts 52nd Infantry Regiment on 11 Oct 1862. Mustered out [died] on 07 Mar 1863 at Baton Rouge, LA. Died of typhoid fever.
