Weatherford - - Hester Orene Scherer, 90, a homemaker, passed peacefully away Monday, December 29, 2003 at a nursing facility in Weatherford.

Funeral: 2 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2004 at White's Chapel of Memories, Weatherford. Burial: East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday at White's Funeral Home, Weatherford.

Hester Scherer was born in Parker County November 13, 1913 to Lura and Thomas Ellis. She was a faithful member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. Hester was a dedicated volunteer with Campbell Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in Weatherford. She loved handiwork. Hester crocheted many beautiful afghans for family members, including blankets for all eleven great-grandchildren. Family was her greatest joy. Hester was preceded in death by Roland, her husband of 63 years.

Survivors: Daughter, Gaye Scherer of Ft. Worth; brother, Thomas Ellis of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Michele Napier and husband, Jeff of Portland, OR, Brad McDavid and wife, Liza of Aledo, Bill McDavid and wife, Mikeleen of Ft. Worth; and eleven great-grandchildren, Ben, Sam, John, and Phillip Napier, all of Portland, OR, Autumn, Elizabeth, Roland and Rebecca McDavid, all of Aledo, and Billy, Rachel and Jairus McDavid of Ft. Worth.
