Death yesterday morning following a long illness of Mrs. Katharine Wagner,
wife of our well-known fellow citizen Ernst Wagner, Sr.
The deceased was widely acquainted and active in our locality. She came
to Manitowoc with her husband many years ago when it was still a small
town and participated in the pioneer life of the community. She bore 7
children of whom 4 predeceased her. She was born 22 Jan. 1826 in Holzhausen,
Hessen-Darmstadt, therefore she reached an age of 64 yrs. 5 mos. 11 days.
She married Ernst Wagner in 1851 in Washington Co., Wisc., and shortly after
the pair came to Manitowoc. Her 3 surviving children are: Mr. Ernst Wagner,
Jr., Mrs.Alfred Leubner, and Mrs. Wilhelm Dicke. The funeral will be held
Sat. at 2 p.m.
