Mary E. Hughes, 89, 1112 E. Butler, Olney, died at 9:50 p.m. Monday in Richland Memorial Hospital.

Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Hughes was born Feb. 9, 1894, in Noble, the daughter of Lincoln and Belle (Fryman) Palmer. She married Charles E. Hughes and he preceded her in death in 1943. She was affiliated with the Noble Methodist Church and had worked for the Sunshine Laundry for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Richard, Flint, Mich.; and Bernard, Wenatchee, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Joe (Helen) Spitz, Olney; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother; and two sisters.
