Lawrence M. Hanson
Lawrence M. Hanson, 79, 1401 S. Union, Fergus Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Broen Memorial Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, with the Rev. Harland Helland officiating. Burial will be in St. Otto's Cemetery, Fergus Falls.
Mr. Hanson was born Oct. 4, 1910, in Jackson, Minn., the son of Henry and Clara (Larson) Hanson. He grew up and attended school in Jackson. He farmed near Jackson until 1937, when he moved to Fergus Falls to farm with his brother, Martin, near Dayton Hollow.
On June 1, 1946, he married Adelaid Schuetze. They made their home in Fergus Falls.
During World War II, he moved to San Francisco to work in an aircraft manufacturing plant. He entered the Army Air Corp., was trained as a radio operator and was stationed in India. After his time in the service, he returned to Fergus Falls to farm, and then began employment at the local meat packing plant. He worked for the plant for 25 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the Eagles.
Survivors include his wife, Adelaid; one daughter, Elizabeth Hanson of Narragansette, Rhode Island; one stepson, Robert M. Williams, of La Luz, New Mexico; three grandchildren, Dana DuBrule, Anthony John Williams, and Jamie Lynne Williams, and two great grandchildren, Robert DuBrule and Anna Lisa DuBrule.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls, and one hour prior to the services at the Broen Home.
