Dunn, Alden Dale

DUNN, Alden Dale (Ret. AF Col.) of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 6, 2010. Col. Dunn served in the Viet Nam War and was a Master Air Force Navigator. He received numerous medals and commendations including the Spanish Medal of Honor which was bestowed upon him by King Juan Carlos of Spain, for his four years of service as the Air Attache to the United States Embassy in Madrid, Spain. Col. Dunn was also a long-time volunteer at Beavercreek's Valley Elementary School and was an avid golfer, tennis player, fisherman, hunter and baseball player. He is survived by: his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Foster Dunn; his beloved children; Susan Dunn Weinberg of Los Angeles and Delories Dunn de Ayuso of Madrid, Spain; his son James Alden Dunn of Miami; and grandchildren: Dylan Jenness Weinberg, Tomas Damaso Ayuso Dunn, Isabel Maria Ayuso Dunn and Cristobal Jaime Ayuso Dunn. Additional survivors are his mother Dorothy Jenness Dunn Parmelee of Tupper Lake, New York, and his brothers Earl Norman Dunn of Vienna, Virginia, Arnold Morris Dunn of Potsdam, New York, and Leo Irwin Dunn of Haynesville, Louisiana, as well as their families. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2010, from 6-8 p.m. with a time of sharing of remembrances beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel, 3970 Dayton-Xenia Road at Grange Hall Road. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made, in Col. Dunn's name, to the Beavercreek Library's children's section or to the Valley Elementary School IMC. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.tobiasfuneralhome.com.
