Charles Jennings Power, 90, died April 29, 2008, in Hillsboro, Ore. He was born in Wayne, Oklahoma on July 24, 1917, to Jesse and Estelle Power.He married Marcelle Moore on December 20, 1939 and celebrated 58 years of marriage until her death in 1997.He graduated from Norman High School and studied at OU before joining the work force. He worked for United Airlines in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in the 1940's; served as OU's ROTC's military property custodian through the 50's; transferred to chemistry department supply manager at OU in 1961; and moved to the OU athletic department in 1968, working in the ticket office and as athletic department concessions manager. He retired from that position in 1985.He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and enjoyed gardening, cooking, time with family, and Sooner football.He is survived by three children, Marcie Goldsby of Portland, Ore., Kenneth Power of Richardson, Texas, and Jim Power of Hillsboro, Ore.; son-in-law, Jerry H. Goldsby; four grandchildren, Jay, Linn, Christy and Jim Goldsby; two great-grandchildren, Maia and Anna Donney; and a niece, Marilyn Metzger of Arlington, Texas.He was preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Anderson, and nephew, Stephen Anderson.A family celebration of his life was held Wednesday, April 30 in his daughter's home.
