EMPORIAN'S AUNT DIES

News has been received of the death of Mrs. George D. (Caroline Southwick Plumb) Griffith of California, an aunt of Mrs. Harold (Roxanna Plumb) Kendig, Rt. 2, and a cousin of Mrs. C. H. (Kitty Plumb) DeLong, 831 Congress St.

Graveside services will be held Saturday in Maplewood Cemetery in Emporia. To start at 1 p.m., they will be conducted by the Rev. Stephen J. Williams, pastor of the First Congregational Church.

Mrs. Griffith, who was born June 18th, 1879, was a daughter of Preston B. Plumb, one of the founders of Emporia and United States Senator from Kansas from 1877 until 1891. She was born in the family home on East Sixth Avenue, which now is the Community Center, and she was married on May 15th, 1913. She had lived in Kansas City, Mo., for a number of years before she moved in 1928 to California. Mrs. Griffith was preceded in death by two brothers, Preston Plumb Jr., and Amos Hinsdale Plumb, and one sister, Mary Plumb. She is survived by two sons, David Plumb Griffith, Santa Barbara, Calif., and George D. Griffith, Portuguese Bend, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. S. C. (Ruth Plumb) Brewster, of Laguna Beach, Calif.
