Daughter of James and Nancy Taylor McBride. She was born in Greene County, Illinois about two and one-half miles west of Roodhouse on what is now called the Stimpson farm, Feb. 26, 1830, and died at the home of her son, Geo. W. Brown, six miles east of Roodhouse, at 5:30 a.m. Saturday August 22, 1914, at the age of 84 years, 5 months, and 26 days.

She was a member of a family of fourteen children all of which have preceded her to the world beyond except one brother, Geo. McBride of Kansas, the youngest of the family.

She was married to Aaron Quillor Brown, deceased, Nov. 7, 1850. To this union was born eleven children, seven sons and four daughters, one son and three daughters, preceded her to the better world, Charles Aaron and Sarah Brown Walker, in 1875, Drucilla Frances in 1883 and Elizabeth A. Crabtree, her eldest, July 16, 1914. Six sons and one daughter are left to mourn her death, James E. of Dallas, Texas; Geo. W. of Roodhouse; David Henry of Patterson; Annas Brown Wagner, Cainsville, Mo.; William Q. of Roodhouse; Marion Edgar of Harrisburg, Ill.; and Albert F. of Alton, Ill. Also thirty grandchildren, twenty great-grand-children and one great-great- grandchild.

She was converted to the Christian religion many years before she became a member of any church. She became a member of the Missionary Baptist church in Garden City, Mo., in 1891 and in 1893 she became a member of the United Baptist church of Barrow, Ill., and remained a member until her death.

The last year of her life was spent at the home of Geo. W. Brown and wife whose untiring care helped to pass her last days in comfort.

She was a good mother, a good neighbor and always thoughtful of others welfare and we know from the life that she lived while in this world that there is a home prepared for her in heaven, there to meet her husband and children who have preceded her.

Her husband was a native of Kaskaskia, Ill., but they were here and have since always lived in the vicinity except for five years spent at Garden City, Mo. The husband died nineteen years ago.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. R. Johnson of White Hall at the church in Barrow, at eleven o'clock Monday morning August 24, he being assisted in the service by Revs. Wm. Rhoads and Alden Johnson. Interment followed at the Edwards cemetery.
