She was born Jan. 8, 1955, in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Bernard A. and Bernadine M. (Schierer) Appel.
Surviving are her mother, Bernadine of Chillicothe; children, Daniel (Jenny) Stone of Princeville, Ill., Krissy Gauwitz of Princeville, Ill., and Alex Gauwitz and Marilea Stone, both of Chillicothe; four sisters, Diane Johnson of Chillicothe, Judy Hawley of Princeville, Sandy (Paul) Bundy of Peoria and Marie Zannacker of Chillicothe; and one brother, Kenneth Appel of Lacon, Ill. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and brother-in-law, Kenneth Hawley.
Nancy was a custodian for Illinois Valley Central School District.
She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, 2010, at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. The Rev. Glenn H. Harris will officiate. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
