An obituary published in the Shelbyville Democrat on August 8, 1918, for James E. Kidwell, stated that he was the son of James and Betsy A. Kidwell and was born in Knox County, Ohio, April 27, 1849. His death was August 4, 1918. He was united in marriage with Ella Thompson of Missouri in 1874. To this union was born one son, who with the mother preceded him in death. He was united in marriage with Mrs. Jane Coffing, Nov. 28, 1879, and to this union were born four sons and eight daughters, four of them dying in infancy. Surviving besides his wife were: Mrs. Mae Courtright of Findlay; Mrs. Lily Coventry of Assumption; Mrs. Cora Bentler of Findlay; Mrs. Lucy Anglin of West Frankfort; Mrs. Pearl Andrews and Mrs. Eva Blair of Olney; Miss Grace and Chester at home. Also surviving him were a stepson, Hayse Coffing of N. D.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Green and Frances Hudson of Camppoint, Ill., two brothers, Norman and Charles Kidwell of Shelbyville and 23 grandchildren. The funeral services were held at Okaw Center church with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. The pall-bearers were the six sons-in-law; Will Courtright, Charles Coventry, Robert Bentler, Louis Anglin, Frank Andrews and Harry Blair.
