" MRS. SMITH OF KNOX DIES EARLY SUNDAY
Knox - Mrs. Mary E. Smith, 76, of Penn Avenue, Knox, widow of Vern E. Smith, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday in the Oil City Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Smith was born June 30, 1890, in Knox, a daughter of William and Susan Whitmore Boyer. Her husband, Vern E. Smith, died in 1937. A son, Kenneth, died in 1958. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Knox Methodist Church. Surviving are a son, Jesse Smith of Butler; a sister, Mrs. Eva Berlin of Knox; two brothers, Glenn Boyer of Knox and Elmer Boyer of Lincoln, Ill.; and 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Removal was made to the William N. Rupert Funeral Home in Knox where friends will be received after 7 p.m. today and where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Rev. John Heiser, pastor of the Knox Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Knox Union Cemetery."
