Celebration of Life services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical Free Church, Moline. Burial is at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church. Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory is assisting the family.
Earl was born May 10, 1926, in Rock Island, the son of Earl and Rose Linnea Anderson Hanson. He married Emma Jean Bokholdt Sept. 17, 1955.
Earl entered the service in 1944, and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a corporal in 1946. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Earl also worked in the postal department at Augustana College, Rock Island.
Earl loved sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed boating, fishing and a good cup of coffee.
Survivors include his wife, Emma; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sally Hanson, Davenport; Charles and Andrea Hanson, Moline; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and David Jarrard, Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Tim, Alex and Noah.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Earl and Linnea, brother, Robert and sister, Karen.
