Daniel Mark Neumeister, 31, of Crozet, Virginia, beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, died in a tragic accident on the afternoon of Monday, October 4, 2010.

Dan was zealous about everything he did, from winemaking to motorcycle riding, lacrosse to long boarding. No one was more confident, vibrant or enthusiastic about his pursuits.

He loved his wife, Adriane, his family, his animals, Savannah, Skyler, Floyd, numerous lizards, and a turtle. He lived fully every moment. Dan's creative spirit was beautifully expressed in visual art, film, music and design. Inspirational, dedicated, honorable and loyal describe his very being. Snapshots from Dan's life show a unique and glorious individual.

Dan was born on November 17, 1978, to Steven Mark Neumeister and Jan Pyland Harrison in Beverly, Massachusetts. He met his wife, Adriane Allen, in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1998, and after living in California for a few years, the two ultimately settled in Crozet, where Dan became passionately involved in the Virginia wine industry.

Dan was Assistant Vintner at White Hall Vineyards. There he developed an intense desire to learn winemaking. Without formal training in enology, Dan's love for his craft, his attention to detail and his work ethic enabled him to excel in both the vineyard and winery. He kept a keen eye on the vineyards, carefully following all stages of development. Dan loved what he did; it was not his job, it was his way of life. Dan and Adriane were married at White Hall on August 8, 2009. Dan's success at White Hall led to a further venture, the development of Sugarleaf Vineyards, where he crafted award-winning wines.

Dan is survived by his wife Adriane; parents, Steve Neumeister and Jan Harrison; sisters, Amy Marino and Anna Neumeister; brother, Aaron Davidsson; stepfather, Tom Harrison; nephew and niece, Matthew and Kylie Marino; and numerous friends and family that love him. Dan will be remembered in our hearts and minds forever.

A service to celebrate Dan's life was held at Sugarleaf Vineyards, Friday, October 8, 2010.

The family received guests, Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Pfeifer's residence, Burchs Creek Road, Crozet, Virginia 22932.

Tax deductible memorial donations may be made to either http://boardrescue.org or Christ Episcopal Church, Charlottesville, "Neumeister Scholarship" - a scholarship in support of Adriane's completion of nursing school in 2011.
