Mrs. Florence I. Patterson, 83, Route 3, Independence, wife of Roy D. Patterson, died Sunday at 11:10 a.m. Sunday at her home. She had been in failing health.
Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Potts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Simmons, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Wednesday and until 9 a.m. Thursday when the casket will be closed and not reopened.
Mrs. Florence Ida Patterson was born Oct. 18, 1895, in Tyro, the daughter of John and Carrie (Henksteller) Douglass. She attended school in Independence and graduated from Montgomery County High School. She was employed as a secretary with the L. L. Humphrey Investment Co. and later was employed as assistant laboratory technician at St. Margaret's Mercy Hospital in Fredonia and then in the same position at Mercy Hospital in Independence.
She married Roy D. Patterson at Fredonia on July 20, 1965, and he survives at the home. Mrs. Patterson was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to the widower include two sons, Eugene A. Brady, Independence, and Robert D. Brady, Vancouver, Wash.; one daughter, Barbara A. Boston, Boulder City, Nev.; two brothers, Roy Douglass, Girard, and Harvey Douglass, Winfield; and seven grandchildren.
