AUGUST ABEL (d. 1927)

August Abel Passes Away Today, Aged 75
Death came to August Abel, pioneer settler and for thirty two years
an employee of the Plumb and Nelson company at his home 885? N.
Ninth street early this morning ending an illness of nearly a year,
the last three weeks of which had confined him to his bed. Mr. Abel's
funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 from the home to the
German Evangelical church of which he had been a member for fifty
years. The Revs. Machmiller and Uetzmann will officiate. Burial will
be at Evergreen. Mr. Abel was born in Germany, June 16, 1851, being
75 at death and he came to Manitowoc in 1869?/89? and had since made
his home here. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Ida and
Clara and one son Oscar. Two grandchildren, a brother Capt. William
Abel and two sisters, Mrs. William M??eke of Sheboygan and Mrs.
Amelia Croll, this city also survive.
