MAX H. ACKERMANN

Max Ackermann, __, of 933 N. 24th St., Manitowoc died Friday afternoon at Holy
Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Phipps Memorial Chapel of First
Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. Dale Tutje will officiate with burial
in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Ackermann was born March 4, 1906 at Heidenheim, Germany, son of the late
Moritz and Freida Bassmann Ackermann. He attended schools in Germany coming to
the United States as a young man in 1923. He married Lulu Grant Bassmann July 31,
1953 in Illinois. In 1956 the couple moved to Cranford, N.J., where he was plant
manager for Heresite and Chemical Co. until 1966 when he returned to Manitowoc
where he was still employed at Heresite and Chemical Co. retiring in 1974. He was
past vice president of the company. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church
of Manitowoc, A_aure Masonic Lodge No. 129 Eastern Star No. 87, and Masonic
Chapter of Cranford, Manitowoc-Two Rivers Tipoh Shrine, 32 degree Mason and Odd
Fellows Lodge of Manitowoc.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, (private), a brother, Richard, a sister,
Mrs. Emlie Bosch of Heidenheim and three grandchildren.
Friends may call at Jens Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday until
11 a.m. Monday and then at the chapel until the time of service. Manitowoc Masons
Lodge No. 65, will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may
be made to First Presbyterian Church or Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children.
