Wed Caleb Harrison Boggess, third born of nine known children in Lumberport, Harrison county, Virginia now West Virginia whose paternal grandfather was veteran of the Revolutionary War. Caleb raised with orphaned cousins

Caleb graduated 1845 from Virginia Military Institute who studied law under Judge Edward S Duncan, admitted to bar in Clarksburg, Virginia (now West Virginia) in 1847, as a delegate, walked out of the 1861 Secession Convention with other Union supporters, moving to Clarksburg from Weston in 1861, employed as chief counsel in West Virginia for the Baltimore & Ohio railroad company, successfully argued cases before both, Supreme Court of West Virginia and United States. ~ (source, in part, from History of Harrison County, page 136.)
