Carrie Elizabeth (Carrie Beth Adams) Bonnette, 94, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003, in Freedom, Indiana.

Born September 10, 1909, in Monroe County, just south of Bloomington, Indiana, she was the daughter of Henry Sherman Adams and Mae (Butcher) Adams.

Survivors include her daughter, Aletha (Bonnette) Foster and her husband, Robert Foster of Wilmington, North Carolina, and her daughter-in-law, June (Brewer) Henderson Bonnette, of Spencer, Indiana.

Her grandchildren are Kenneth Lee Bonnette Jr., of Pasadena, Texas, and Kim (Bonnette) Latham of Houston, Texas; Kaylee Marie Bonnette and Kole Daniel Bonnette of Spencer, Indiana; Dr. William Foster of Santiago, Chile; Candace Ann (Foster) Howell Cederman of Castle Rock, Colorado; Richard Lee Foster of Glenelg, Maryland, and Patricia Mae (Foster) Bazelon of Glenelg, Maryland. There are three step-granddaughters: Laurie Henderson of Spencer, Dawn (Henderson) Flynn of Brookstone, and Kathy (Henderson) Zabel, all living in Indiana.

There are 19 great-grandchildren.

Carrie Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Vergil [sic] Bonnette, and her son, Kenneth Lee Bonnette, who died May 27 of this year; her sisters, Vesta and Ruth Adams, and her brother, Orville Lewis Adams. One sister is still living, Emma Elena (Billie) Adams Banks of Terre Haute, Indiana.

There are only a few of the first cousins living, but there are second, third, and fourth cousins; many living in this area.

Carrie Beth had a God-given gift, a beautiful Soprano voice. She was asked to sing for many public affairs, as well as for many, many church services. She was a gifted artist, who loved to paint. She could create crochet patterns, and her finished work won many prizes for their beauty and craftsmanship.

Although stricken with polio when she was only 3 years old, she never let that stop her from living her life to the fullest. Her ancestors settled in southern Indiana while it was still Indian territory, and she had the same hardy spirit that was her heritage.

She was a faithful member of the Bloomington Seventh Day Adventist Church and later moved her membership to the Spencer Adventist Church.

She worked as a bookkeeper and office clerk at the Family Finance Center in Indianapolis; she was a Red Cross volunteer; a Past President of the Extension Homemakers' Club; a member of the Monroe County Chorus; she received the Kiwanis Club Award — Book of Golden Deeds.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Allen Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery.
