He was born on February 23, 1941 in Simpson, Louisiana and has been a resident of Chesnee. He was the son of the late David Allen and Mary Pearlie Burns of Simpson, La.
Lawrence was a member of the Pentecostal Church of The Living God in Gaffney, S.C.
He is survived by his wife, Delma Burns of Chesnee; two daughters, Deborah Burns and partner, Angie of Candler, N.C. and Pamela Annette Vanzant and husband, Stephen of Kingsport, Tn.; two sons, Lawrence E. Burns Jr. and Darrell L. Burns, both of Chesnee; five grandchildren, Tiffany McDaniel of Elizabethton, Tn., Curtis Burns of Monroe, N.C., Kirk Doty of Chesnee, Chasity Doty of Kingsport, Tn. and Bryan Burns of Chesnee; five great grandchildren , Donavon, Jacob, Christian, Cindy and Piper; four step-grandchildren, Dani LaFollette and Kenny Cole of Elizabethton, Tn., Kelly Cole and Ben Lowe of Candler, N.C.; five step great-grandchildren, Caden, McKenzie, Aaleahya, Zach and Addison; a sister, Faye Parham of VA; three brothers, Huey, William and Houston Burns, all of La. ; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons: Curtis Burns, Bryan Burns, Kirk Doty, Kenny Cole and Adam McDaniel and family friend, Shannon Butler.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the church.
Funeral will be held on Monday, October 11, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pentecostal Church of The Living God, 3052 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney, SC with Rev. Jimmy Linder officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens, 986 Chesnee Highway, Gaffney, S.C.
