Gerald Joseph Richard passed away at home with his daughter and granddaughter by his side on April 9, 2009.

Gerald (Jerry) was born in Sanford, Maine on May 6, 1925. After moving to Michigan in his teenage years, he met the woman of his dreams, who he married on June 6, 1946, after serving his country during WWII in the South Pacific.

Jerry worked as a lathe operator for many years. He was a hardworking man who thought of his family first before all.

Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mary Richard; his brother Roger of Simi Valley, Calif.; and his son-in-law Bradford Hancock of Phoenix, Ariz.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jeannine Hancock, now of Prescott Valley; his son Robert Richard; daughter-in law Kim Richard; and seven grandchildren, Justyna Woods of Phoenix, Lindsey Hancock of Kingman, Ariz., Kyle Richard, Hannah Richard, Sarah Richard, Sean Richard and Delaney Richard, all of Surprise Ariz.; his sister, Bertha (Bert) Menard (Richard); brother-in-law Ray Menard of San Diego, Calif.; his sister Viola (Vi) Johnson (Richard); brother-in-law Harold of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and brother Marvin Richard; and sister-in-law Karen of Clinton Township, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jerry was a devoted father and husband; he coached his daughter and son in softball and baseball while they were children.

Jerry never met a stranger; he was a devoted friend and brother.

Jerry is with the woman he has loved his entire life now, but is missed so much by us left behind....

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at St. Germaine Catholic Church, 7997 E Dana Drive in Prescott Valley.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Prescott National Cemetery off Highway 69.
