Aaron Martin Edwards was born in Tate township, Clermont County, Ohio, June 13, 1839 and departed this life at his home on Whitley Creek, Sept. 14, 1896, aged 57 years and three months. He married Mary E. Beck, June 14, 1860. They moved from Ohio to Illinois in March, 1865, and have since lived in this community. To them were born 11 children, two have gone on before to the better land, nine are still living, and were present to mingle their tears at their father's grave. Mr. Edwards united with the Missionary Baptist Church in Ohio and afterward transferred his membership to the church at Whitfield. He had been in failing health for three years and entirely helpless for a year or more. Funeral services were held at the Whitfield church conducted by Elder A. H. Harrell in the presence of a large and sympathetic assembly. The remains were laid to rest in the Whitfield Cemetery. Windsor Gazette – 17 Sep 1896
