Mrs. Ellen Clute, 80, widow of Attorney Lemuel Clute. life-long resident og Ionia County, died suddenly at her home in Ionia Township Tuesday evening. She had been an invalid for three years and was found dead by her daughter, Miss Lucy Clute, who had been absent from the room only a few minutes.
The funeral will be held from the late home Saturday morning at 10 O'clock with the Rev. W.F. Kendrick, pastor of the Methodist church, of which she has been a member since 13 years old, in charge. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery.
All of her life was spent on the farm on which she died, having been born in a log house, just north of the present homestead. Her husband was a prominent attorney here at one time and practiced with C. Sessions and Judge V.H. Smith.
She is survived by three children; W.K. Clute of Grand Rapids; Miss Lucy Clute, at home; Richard Clute, New York City; Robert L. Clute, Grand Bay, Alabama; Monroe C. Clute, Detroit; brother Donald McPherson, Washington D.C.; three half sisters, Mrs. Catherine Gundrum and Miss Mary McPherson of Ionia, and Miss Pauline McPherson of Detroit.
