U.S. Congressman. As a young man, he was a professional baseball player and umpire, and he later became a successful stone contractor. In 1903, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses, serving until 1907. An unsuccessful candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his business as a stone contractor until his death.
