Joe E. Landwehr, 48, of 5916 El Campo, operator of the city owned Lake Worth Casino for 12 years, died Sunday in a hospital.

Landwehr came to Texas from Kansas in 1939 and became owner and operator of the old Plantation Ballrooms in Dallas and Houston. He obtained a lease from the City of Fort Worth to operate the Casino in 1948.

Landwehr was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church. He was a past president of the Texas Ballroom Association.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry, Jerry and Ricky Landwehr, and a daughter, Marsha Landwehr, all of Forth Worth, and several brothers. Rosary will be recited Monday in Gause-Ware Memorial Chapel. Requiem Mass will be celebrated Tuesday in St. Alice Catholic Church. Burial will be in Restland at Dallas.
