Mr. Fielding was born in the Weyers Cave section of the county on Sept. 11, 1885, a son of the late Eppa and Susan Crickenberger Fielding. He was a member of the Olivet Presbyterian church and had been employed by the Chesapeake and Western Railroad. He had been a guest at the Virginia Mennonite Home since September 1967.
Sruviving are his wife, Mrs. Nora Brightwell Fielding, also a guest of the Virginia Mennonite Home; four daughters, Mrs. Carl G. (Anne) Parrett, Mrs. Carlton (Jean) Young, Mrs. Elwood (Marjorie) Balsley, all of Staunton, and Mrs. Paul W. (Frances) Chittum of Fairfield; three sons, James E. Fielding of Staunton, M-Sgt. William M. Fielding, now serving in Vietnam, and Joseph H. Fielding of Ohio; 21 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A son, Marvin C. Fielding, died in France during the Normandy Invasion in 1944.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (tomorrow) at the Olivet Presbyterian Church, conducted by his pastor, the Rev. L. E. Jordan. Burial will be in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery near Fishersville.
The body will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service.
Active pallbearers will be Harvey Troxell, Frank Gilbert, Elmer Sensabaugh, Jack Young, A. K. Halterman, L. M. Glendye and Kyle Foster.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Myers, William J. Wright, W. L. Welcher, George L. SAndridge, Fulton Brown, Douglas Wine and Oddie Fitzgerald.
The family will receive friends at the Hamrick Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 8. His wife, will be at the residence off his daughter, Mrs. Parrett, 2528 S. Sharlaine Dr.
