Daughter of Claude and Myra (Gerard) Holmes, Callie was born September 7, 1922 in Sumas where she spent her childhood.
Callie was first married to Douglas Granger and later to Don Newton who died in 1970. In her adult life, she lived in Alaska and Seattle; working as a waitress and also in the kitchen for Seattle Schools. She loved to travel; was a voracious reader of U.S. History and was always willing to answer questions and participate in U.S. history discussion.
Graveside services will be conducted Friday, October 15, 2:00 p.m. at Sumas Cemetery in Sumas, Washington.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gillies Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Lynden.
