John H. Powers, 45, of 2601 Burton St. died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday at the Abraham Lincoln Hospital, Lincoln. Born in Springfield, he was the son of John Hunter and Marion June Bell Powers. He was presently employed by the Illinois Department of Law Enforcement. He was preceded in death by his father in 1976, and also a brother, Peter. Surviving are his wife, Christine (Berry); one son, Danny at home; his mother, Mrs. Marion Powers of Springfield; three sisters, Mrs. Jackie (Donald) Southard of Taylorville; Mrs. Peggy (Art) Carvalho of Sommerset, Mass., Mrs. Judy (James) Monahan of Springfield; three brothers, James (Patricia) of Jacksonville, Tyrone (Misako) of Jacksonville, N. C., Tom (Sherry) of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, the Rev. Joseph Smith officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery.
