Wood County Sentinel dated 28 Dec 1893:
"Sunday from the U.B. church occurred the funeral of Thomas Frankfother, an industrious and well respected citizen of Montgomery township, who died Friday, a victim of that dread disease, the grip. He was aged 39 years, 11 months and 11 days, and leaves a wife and six children, three of whom are at present sick with the same disease, to mourn their loss. The bereaved family have the heart-felt sympathy of the entire community."
