In Memoriam – Elder B. W. [Bushrod W.] Henry, of Shelbyville, died at his residence at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning, August 20th, '79, and was buried at Shelbyville Thursday, August 21st, 2 o'clock p.m. Elder Henry was born and raised in East Virginia; emigrated to Shelby county, this state, in 1829 and has lived here ever since. He was one of the old pioneer preachers of the county and came here a Baptist minister, but soon afterwards united with the Christian Church in which he has been a constant member and a faithful laborer ever since. He also had the honor of organizing the first Christian church ever organized in Shelby county and which now has only one surviving member, a female, who helped to work up that organization. All through his sickness he exhibited great courage and patience. A motto with the inscription, "In God We Trust," he had hung where he could see it at any time, and from time to time he would call the attention of visitors to this motto, with the remark: "This is my motto." Such is life. Death is a debt we must all pay and it is only a question of time how soon it becomes due. Father Henry has paid his last debt and gone to try the realities of the spirit world. W. C.
