Alta Hammons Bingham, age 92 of Windwood Health Care Center in Clinton Tennessee, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 14, 2007. Mrs. Bingham was born on September 22, 1914, in Knox County, Kentucky, to the late Frank Hammons and Cordia Williamson Hammons. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bell County, Kentucky. She was married to the late Challis Bingham, who preceded her in death on December 22, 1971.

Mrs. Bingham is survived by a devoted and loving family, Sue and Bill Walker of Lafollette, Tennessee. Jack Bingham and Sherry of Jacksboro, Tennessee. Chalice and Donna of Clinton, Tennessee. Paul and Brenda of Pineville, Kentucky. Frank and Shirley of Madeira Beach, Florida. Bobby and Kathy of Wayne, Michigan. Donna and Bill Taylor of Newcomb, Tennessee. Doug and Linda of LaGrange, Georgia. Charles and Susan of Oakdale, Tennessee. Kenny of Romulus, Michigan. Bruce and Renee of Everts, Kentucky. Thirty-two grandchildren, Fifty-two great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Bingham was preceded in death by her Sisters; Mary, Rosa, Edna, Amanda, and her Brothers; Tommy, Richard, Jim, Eligah, John A., Walter, Arnold, and Marse.

The family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2007 between the hours of 6:00 and 9:00pm, and on Thursday after 1:00pm at the Ebenezer Baptist Church until the funeral hour at 3:00pm.

Mrs. Bingham's "Home Going" service will begin at 3:00pm Thursday, May 17, 2007 at Ebenezer Baptist Church at Ingram, Kentucky, with Minister's Douglas Bingham, Arnold Petrey , Terry Cox, and family members officiating. Burial is immediately following at the Brewer Cemetery in Knox County. . The Bingham family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ingram, Kentucky 40955
