From The Buffalo Express, June 12, 1916:
"MRS. PETER THOMPSON DEAD. Daughter of Late Colonel Abbott of Hamburg—Funeral Tomorrow. Mrs. Eliza Abbott Thompson, wife of the Rev. Peter Thompson of the Sumner Place Methodist Episcopal church, died on Saturday after a long Illness. Mrs. Thompson was the daughter of Colonel George Abbott of Hamburg and was born there in 1861. She was married to Mr. Thompson on August 24. 1903, Mr. Thompson at that time having a charge in Hamburg. Mrs. Thompson was a woman of many gifts and graces, and though she had been ill ever since coming to Buffalo, three years ago, she maintained her interest in the church societies and insisted on doing her share of the work. She leaves three daughters by a former marriage and a brother, George B. Abbott of Hamburg. Funeral services will be held in the Sumner place church at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Dr. F.H. Conan, district superintendent, officiating. Several other ministers will take part in the service and ministers of the city will be bearers. Burial will be in Hamburg."
