Carl was a Teacher, Coach, Principal, and Superintendent in the public school system.
He was a sought after as a speaker of the Kiwanis club.
As he rose to one of the highest level of that organization. He is remembered in Grant Teaff's book. I Believe as "a man who made a profound influence on my life". Uncle Buddy set up the Carl Herod scholarship award for a Snider High School graduating senior. His biggest love was developing character in young men through sports. At a banquet in his honor the many recipients of this award gave him a plaque which read "The real meaning of Success is having Character in everything you do."
