Rites Held At Sundal For Halvor Tommervik

Halvor O. Tommervik passed away very suddenly at 5am Friday, Dec 5th, at the Ada Hospital which he had just entered. Death was attributed to heart failure.

Born in Norway July 26, 1878 to parents, Ole and Cecelia Tommervik, he died at the age of 80 years, four months, and ten days.

He came to the United States at the age of nineteen. He was a buttermaker for eight years at various places, namely: Gary, Shelly, and Sundal.

He married Ella Garden on June 3, 1905, at the Sundal church. In 1919 they moved to their farm in Bear Park, where they resided until his death.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Charlotte (Mrs Ivar Hanson) Portland, Oregon, and four sons; Cyrus of Greenville, California, Wayne of Bejou, MN, Lawrence at home, and Traverse of Gary, MN.; two sisters in Norway, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons and two brothers. He was a member of the Sundal Lutheran church.

The funeral was Monday, Dec. 8th from the Sundal church, the Rev. Thomas Gabrielson officiating. Pallbearers were Ludvik Bak, Harry Carlson, Rudolph Gysland, Alvin Degerness, Gilbert Motteberg, and Carl Stevens. Thea Degerness was organist and Harvey Degerness was soloist.
