Funeral Held Last Friday For Gary Area Lady
The funeral for Mrs. Halvor (Ella) Tommervik, 85, was at 2 Friday, August 27th, in Sundal Lutheran Church near Gary with Rev. Ydstie officiating. She died Tuesday, August 24th.
Pallbearers were Harvey Degerness, Gordon Nelson, Leonard Roe, Arne Eid, Donald Eid, and Vernon Hanson. Joseph Bak was soloist accompanied by Mrs. Gilbert Moteberg. Mrs. Clarence Aune was the organist.
Ella Clarissa Garden was born in Sundal Township Oct. 6, 1885 to Evans and Kari Eriksdatter (Milsten) Garden.
Ella married Halvor O. Tommervik on June 3, 1905, at the Sundal Lutheran Church. In 1919 they moved to their farm in Bear Park, where they resided until his death in 1958.
She leaves a daughter and four sons, Mrs. Ivar (Charlotte) Hanson, Portland, Ore; Cyrus, Greenville, Calif; Wayne, Bejou; Lawrence, Crookston; and Traverse, Gary;
Two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Ida Bak and Mrs. Gilbert (Lily) Moteberg, both Gary; Halvor Garden, Prospect, Ore; 21 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Ernest and Harold; her parents, one brother, Herbert, and 3 sisters, Mary Ruth, Emma and Mary Susanna.
She was a member of the Sundal Church, Ladies Aid and Circle, had been active in Gary Legion Auxiliary and the Gary Senior Citizens.
