Fred R. Haines, 74, Uncle of Mrs. Ben Kerr, Dies Tuesday
Fred R. Haines, uncle of Mrs. Ben Kerr of this city, and former resident of Golden, died in Denver, Tuesday, September 30, after a long illness which extended over several years. He had been bedfast for the last six months. Mr. Haines was born in Colorado and had lived in Golden and in other parts of the state for a number of years. He was the son of the late Ashel Haines, one of the first pioneers who came to Colorado with the 49ers. Before failing health forced him to retire from active work, Mr. Haines owned and operated a bakery in Loveland, Colo. His wife, the former Rose Palmer, sister of C. L. Palmer, passed away about fifteen years ago. They were married in Golden. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Clara Popeck of Washington, Pa . Mrs. Edith Hart. Redding. Pa., Mrs. Ethel Kunsig. Pueblo, Colo.; two sons, George Haines of Denver, and Joe Haines of Redding. Pa : two sisters, Linnie Scott, Denver and Abbie Schoech, Franklin, Calif.; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Woods Mortuary at 2 p. m. today Interment will be in Golden cemetery.
