Funeral services for Cecil C. Hughes, 49, of Sophia, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday m the Soak Creek Tabernacle with the Rev. Okey Cox in charge. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, He died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in a local hospital following a month long illness. He owned and operated a garage established in Sophia and was a member of the Auto Wrecking Assn. and the Beckley Moose Lodge, No. 160. Born in Pocahontas, Va., April 9, 1914, he was a son of Mrs. Delilah Lester Hughes of Pemberton and the late Blake Fanning Hughes. He is survived also by his wife, Mrs. Helen Riddle Hughes; three sons, Cecil Jr. of Akron, Ohio, and Robert Blake and James Harold, both of Sophia; four brothers, Roy M. of Port Arthur, Texas, Russell B. and George W., both, of Pemberton, and Edward B. of Lorain, Ohio; and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Young of Middletown, Ohio, Mrs. June Williams of Pemberton, and Mrs. Nellie Lilly of Beaver. The body will remain at the Williams Funeral Home where friends may call after 5 p.m. today.
