Mrs. Brakefield was born in Montgomery, AL to the late Benjamin Morris and Stella W. Morris. She was a former member of Pinehurst Baptist Church and was a current member of Fairview Baptist Church. She was employed by Civil Service where she worked for the School of Americas.
Her husband, Rev. Karl C. Brakefield and a great granddaughter, Justice Brakefield, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth D. Cunningham, L. Sue Halley (John), Mike L. Brakefield (Kathy), Pat Brakefield (Rosemary) and Karl "Rocky" Brakefield; sisters, Juanita Cosby (Bobby) and Rene Bardling; grandchildren, Terri F. Hornsby, Michael Lee Cunningham (Ketra), Donnie Brakefield, Josh Brakefield (Brandi), Lake Brakefield (Kara), Cogan Brakefield, and Caleb Brakefield; great-grandchildren, Justice H. Cauley, Michael L. Cunningham, Jr., Carolyn Schlader, Dalton Brakefield and Korbin Jeffries; and numerous nieces and nephews.
